A lifelong hobby, now my favorite work.

I’m Andrey, originally from Ukraine and shaped by life all across the United States. Photography started as a lifelong passion and a hobby: the thing I reached for whenever something felt worth remembering.

Today it’s my favorite work. I love creative, fun sessions with a point of view, portraits that look like the person in front of the camera rather than a template.

I’m based in Davis, California, and I work across Sacramento, Woodland, San Francisco, and the region around them. A graduation, a new headshot, or a concept that has been living in your head for years: my job is to help you bring that vision into a photograph you can keep.

In conversation

Why photography?
Because it holds on to time. A good photograph lets you step back into a moment and feel it again, years later. That is what I want every session to leave you with.
What is a session with you like?
Relaxed, and planned. We talk through the idea first: wardrobe, location, light, and mood. On the day I direct you, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
What kind of work do you love most?
Creative portraits with a real concept behind them, the ones we build together. But every milestone gets the same care, from a cap and gown to a first professional headshot.

Field notes

  1. Light first.

    Everything starts with where the light falls. I would rather move us three steps than fix it later.

  2. Direction, not poses.

    You bring yourself; I bring the plan. Small cues, not stiff positions.

  3. Real over perfect.

    Retouching cleans things up. It never replaces who you are.

  4. Made to keep.

    A photograph should still mean something to you in ten years.
